AI Auto-Reframe — Landscape to Vertical Without Losing the Subject
Drop in a horizontal clip and Plumely's AI tracks the speaker's face on your device, keeping them in frame as you crop to 9:16 — no more center-cropped, headless interviews. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Everything runs on your device. Your videos are never uploaded — there's no server to upload to.
Best in Chrome & Edge on desktop.
AI face tracking that follows the speaker (Pro)
A center crop chops people in half the moment they move. Plumely runs on-device face detection across the shot and builds a smoothed motion track, so the subject stays framed from start to finish. AI auto-reframe is part of Plumely Pro.
Built for repurposing
Turn a landscape interview, webinar or podcast clip into native vertical for Reels, Shorts and TikTok — the format each feed is built for.
Manual reframe & resize
Resizing to 9:16 / 1:1 / 4:5 and repositioning the crop by hand come with safe-zone guides, so your subject and captions never sit behind each platform's UI. Upgrade to Pro when you want the AI to track the subject automatically.
Private by design
- Face tracking runs locally — your footage is never uploaded
- No account needed to start editing
- Clean 1080×1920 MP4 output — no watermark
- Works in your browser, even offline
FAQ
Is auto-reframe free?+
Manual resizing and repositioning, plus watermark-free export, are free. The AI face-tracking auto-reframe is a Plumely Pro feature.
How does AI auto-reframe decide what to keep?+
It detects the main face in the shot and keeps it centered as it moves, smoothing the motion to avoid jitter. When no face is found it falls back to a clean center crop.
Does my video get uploaded?+
No. Face detection and export both run in your browser on your device — there is no upload endpoint.
What aspect ratios can I reframe to?+
9:16 (vertical), 4:5 and 1:1 (feed/square), and 16:9 — exported at 1080×1920 for vertical.
